There are many ways for members to discover and employ their spiritual gifts and for visitors and those in our community to benefit from the service opportunities that Redeemer offers. During the week, Redeemer seeks to serve those at Redeemer, those in our community, and those around the world. See below for the various opportunities to serve and be served.

At Redeemer

Mercy Ministries

Wedding Showers

Are you interested in helping throw a celebration for those preparing to get married? The Redeemer family enjoys coming together for these special occasions in people’s lives. If you are interested in helping in this ministry, please contact Rebecca Braam at rlbraam1975@gmail.com.

Baby Showers

Are you interested in helping throw a celebration for those rejoicing in God’s precious gift of new life to their families? The Redeemer family also enjoys coming together these special additions to families in the congregation. If you are interested in helping in this ministry, please contact Rebecca Braam at rlbraam1975@gmail.com.

Congregational Support Meals

Are you able to make some soup? a casserole? or call for a pizza to be delivered? All are welcome to participate as we provide meals to those in our congregation who have had a new baby, surgery, or other life circumstances. Email sign-ups are sent out as a need arises, and all are welcome to participate as they are able. Thank you for blessing others in this way. If you know of a need, have more questions, or would like to volunteer in this ministry, please contact Jobi Hasse at jobihasse@yahoo.com.

Connected Ministries

Connected Ministries’ commitment is to help everyone access God’s Word by identifying and assisting those with special needs and challenges within our church body. These special needs and challenges may include physical, social, cognitive, developmental, behavioral, or emotional health issues; aging; and associated loss of independence, mobility, and other aging related illnesses. If you are interested in participating with this ministry or if you identify a need, please contact the church office at 616-682-0800 or tlangerak@redeemer-opc.org.

Maintenance

Toy Cleaning

Helping stop the spread of germs and sickness may not sound like the most glamorous job, but it is an important way to serve in protecting the health of Redeemer’s families, especially those who use the nursery. A rotation of volunteers faithfully cleans the toys on a regular basis throughout the year. If you would like to join this ministry and help serve our children in this way, please contact Laurel DeLange at laureldelange@gmail.com.

Kitchen Cleaning Crew

Volunteers high school age and older are invited to help with the kitchen cleaning at Redeemer. The kitchen is cleaned once a month by a group of two volunteers. A prepared task list is followed, and it is expected that the total time commitment would be 60-90 minutes. Volunteers are asked to take one slot per year. If you would like to participate in this ministry, please contact Jan Pylman at nhpylman@gmail.com.

Teaching

There are many ways to be involved in the teaching ministries that Redeemer offers. Each of these ministries is always looking for volunteers to learn how to lead and teach. If you are interested in learning more about how to be involved in these various areas, please contact the individual who oversees each particular ministry.

Little Lambs

Little Lambs is the teaching ministry that assists our Thursday Morning Ladies’ Bible Study. Many young mothers attend this study. To free them up to be able to participate in the study, a group of volunteers staffs the nursery and offers a time of instruction and learning for the children who are older than nursery age. If you would like to participate in this ministry on Thursday mornings, please contact Cindy Roodvoets at cindy@woodlandmaple.us.

Small Groups

Are you interested in leading a small group or helping to lead a small group? Redeemer offers small group leadership training classes. Pastor Jonathan Loerop leads these classes. If you would like to learn more about how to lead a small group or if you would like to start a small group, please contact Pastor Loerop at jloerop@redeemer-opc.org.

Bible Studies

If you are interested in leading an Adult Sunday School class, please contact Pastor Jonathan Loerop at jloerop@redeemer-opc.org.

Christianity Explored

We all get one life to live and deep down we’re all asking the same question – what’s it all about? The message at the heart of Christianity is pretty simple. It’s all about one life, the life of Jesus, and it can be summed up in the answers to three questions: Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus come? What does it mean for us? Whether you want to find the answers to these questions or help others answer them, this study is for you. Join Pastor Jonathan for this video presentation and small group discussion.  See Wed. Night @ Redeemer for details.
