GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Redeemer Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) seeks a full-time leader of middle school, high school and young adult ministries to develop children and young adults into Christ-honoring men and women who have a vibrant commitment to the gospel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach and disciple middle school, high school, and college-age students through formal studies.
- Creatively initiate and organize events and activities that facilitate relationships among the student bodies including small groups, large group meetings, and retreats.
- Regularly meet with students throughout the week for discipleship and counsel.
- Encourage and train youth and college students to develop gospel compassion for unbelievers both locally and globally.
- Develop service opportunities for youth and college students.
- Communicate with students through various media such as emails, texts, calls, and visits.
- Communicate with Youth Group parents so they are well informed and involved.
- Pray for the student ministry and the ministry of the church.
- Attend pastoral meetings and staff meetings.
- Participate in regular church activities as able (i.e. prayer meetings, social events, Life Groups, etc.).
- Recruit and mentor 2-3 parent volunteers to assist with discipling, youth group events, meals, host sites, etc.
- Lead the planning of yearly activities (retreats, mission trips, outings, prayer meetings, etc.).
- Support volunteers of K-6 children’s ministry with encouragement, prayer, and guidance as needed.
IF ORDAINED
- Participate in the planning and conducting of our Sunday worship services with our pastoral staff.
- Occasional Sunday preaching, with mentoring in preaching available.
SELECTION CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed an applicable degree from an accredited seminary/Bible college.
- Sound biblical knowledge and theological commitments compatible with the OPC and the Reformed tradition.
- A compatible philosophy of ministry: discipleship occurring as the transcendent biblical truth is worked into the hearts of God’s people through an imminent community.
- Previous youth/college experience preferred.
- Able to preach (if ordained), teach and counsel clearly and engagingly.
- Able to supervise volunteers and oversee a variety of events and meetings.
- Able to organize and lead both small and large group meetings.
- Able and desires to engage and interact effectively with those both in and outside of the congregation.
- Able to set and maintain their own schedule and deadlines.
- Able to work well with other staff members.
- Must be strongly proactive in forming and growing relationships.
COMPENSATION
- Full-time position with compensation commensurate with experience.
- Health, dental, & life/disability insurance and yearly education & hospitality allowance.
- Two weeks of paid vacation and one week of paid study leave.
