DESCRIPTION 

Associate Pastor of Congregational Life

Purpose:

  • To make and mature disciples to have full-engagement with Redeemer from initial contact through assimilation, discipleship, and gift-development to serve the Lord where called.
  • Full engagement – members committed to worship God, grow in their relationship with Christ and His church, and serve others with joy
  • Assimilation – developing a relational bond with Redeemer through informal
    interactions, church activities, LIFE Groups (small group ministry), and becoming church members
  • Discipleship – regularly growing in a relationship with Christ and His church through
    Worship, Bible studies, LIFE Groups, D-groups (discipleship group), and/or Sunday
    school.
  • Gift-development – Being known enough to receive accurate counsel on gift discovery, develop gifts through serving in various ways, and regularly deploy gifts as the Lord calls

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ordained or ordainable in the OPC, PCA, or another NAPARC church
  • Recognition of requisite maturity in character and doctrine by the session
  • Is gifted in private ministry of the Word (e.g., one-on-one, and small group
    environments).
  • Feels called and is content to serve in an associate role.
  • Has the passion and ability to work with teams of people to develop ministry.
  • Is committed to Redeemer’s mission, vision, and philosophy of worship.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Report to the Lead Pastor as part of quarterly staff review, provide a monthly ministry report to the session, and participate in a yearly session review
  • Ministry Functions:

    1. Function as Primary Point Person for Pastoral Care
         a) Visitation
             i. Regularly make in-home visits to the elderly and home-bound
            ii. Make hospital visits
           iii. Schedule introductory visits with visitors and new members
           iv. Seek to enfold those on the margins of the church
        b) Hospitality
            i. Be part of the pastor's rotation at Open Houses
           ii. Host people at home
          iii. Meal Meetings 

    2. Coordinate Assimilation
         a) Connect visitors with members and ministries
         b) Connect attendees and members to LIFE Groups
         c) Connect attendees to Redeemer’s membership process
    3. Coordinate Discipleship
         a) Lead a LIFE Group
         b) Promote, coordinate and recruit leaders for the LIFE Group system
         c) Recruit and develop leaders in D-groups
         d) Manage Adult Sunday School
         e) Encourage and equip Bible study leaders
         f) Train members in evangelism
         g) Provide counseling as needed
    4. Coordinate Gift-Development
         a) Document new members self-perceived areas of strength
         b) Work with LIFE Group leaders to help others discover their gifts
         c) Work with Ministry Leaders to help others develop their gifts
         d) Recruit members to regularly deploy their gifts as the Lord calls
    5. Regularly Preach and Lead Worship (to be defined by session)
    6 Staff Liaison
         a) Oversee Women’s Ministries, Men’s Ministries, Discipleship Ministries, and Hospitality Ministries
         b) Provide monthly reports to the session
    7. Any other duties as assigned by session and/or senior pastor.

COMPENSATION 

  • Full-time position with compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Health, dental, & life/disability insurance and yearly education & hospitality allowance.
  • Paid vacation and paid study leave.
